I know it seems early to think about back to school, but the application window for the Military Family Relief Fund Operation Back to School opens on June 1st!
Indiana Veteran Families experiencing financial hardship can apply for $500 per dependent school-aged child (up to age 23 if enrolled in a HS degree or full-time post secondary program). Please click this link for more details.
Here's some general information: a family's earnings must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For a family of 4, that would be $55,500 or less per year. The grant can be used for any back to school expenses; this includes school supplies, school clothes, textbooks, etc. Student loan payments are excluded. The student must live with the veteran that is applying.
