As of July, Lakeland has been partnered with a new athletic trainer from Parkview Sports Medicine (PSM). Lakeland is proud to welcome Michael Kurtz to our Laker family.
Kurtz graduated from Leo High School in 2017 and began his college experience at Indiana University-Bloomington for two years, where he was an Exercise Science major. During that time, he was also an equipment manager for the IU football team. After that, Kurtz transferred to Indiana State University (ISU) where he completed his undergrad as an Applied Medicine major with a minor in Massage Therapy. Upon completion of his undergrad, Kurtz decided to return to ISU and obtain a masterβs degree in Athletic Training.
When asked about the advantages of being a Parkview employee, Kurtz stated: βParkview has such a large network of healthcare providers with a variety of different backgrounds that have allowed me to learn something new from each person I have worked with. Parkviewβs system also allows for so much support in a variety of different ways, while also encouraging its employees to pursue life goals outside of healthcare.β
The partnership between Parkview and Lakeland continues to support and serve our athletes as best as possible during their respective seasons. Michael is eager to be involved in the Laker family and even stated that he βlooks forward to meeting and getting to know everybody while becoming a part of the community myself.β As Lakeland gains another excited, driven, and youthful personality to the team, Kurtz stated that he is βthe biggest cheerleader for the teams I work with, and I am excited to watch everyone compete and cheer from the sidelines.β
In his free time, Michael enjoys watching and supporting the Indianapolis Colts and Golden State Warriors and is one of the founders of a Non-Profit organization, Amateur Island Corp., that aids families with the cost of participating in youth sports. Michael has two dogs - Phil & Lil that were named after the Rugrats, a show that holds a special place in his heart also having a twin sister! Lakeland is excited to welcome Michael to Laker Nation, our teams, and our community. Go Lakers!
