Bullying & Cyberbullying
As a student, parent, or community member, you have the power to keep our school district safe. We rely on you to be our eyes and ears – letting us know when there is a possible danger. Be a lifesaver and help stop a potential school crisis or school bullying.
What defines bullying?
Bullying, as defined in Indiana law IC 20-33-8-.2, means overt, unwanted, repeated acts or gestures including verbal or written communications or images transmitted in any manner (including digitally or electronically).
What defines cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is bullying that occurs through the use of data or computer software that is accessed through a computer, computer system, computer network, or cellular telephone or other wireless or cellular communication device.
What Students can do!
Immediately report the situation to the building principal or assistant principal or superintendent. The student also may report concerns to a teacher or counselor.
What Lakeland is doing?
Beginning in our preschool education programs, we work on teaching our students to treat everyone with kindness. Throughout their educational career students will be taught the difference between someone being unkind and bullying, how to handle both types of situations and how to report bullying. When bullying situations are identified, we provide support for the victim and education for the accused.
