An incident involving a car backfiring was called in to law enforcement as shots fired at Jr/Sr High. Law enforcement responded quickly, and were at their highest level of alert as they investigated. Safety protocols were followed. Students were not in danger. Again, we thank our local law enforcement for their quick action to keep Lakers safe!

LaGrange County Emergency Management has notified me that the Winter Weather Advisory will now start at 4pm. In order to keep our Lakers safe, we are cancelling all after school activities for this afternoon. We would like to get all of our students and staff home before travel gets too messy. This weather front is scheduled to bring us freezing rain, resulting in a quarter inch of ice. This could cause power issues in our community, along with hazardous travel. Stay Safe Lakers!

Due to slick conditions, Lakeland School Corporation is on a 2 hour delay today 1-18-24. This will give our drivers, both bus & young drivers, some daylight to help navigate the icy roads. I know this is an inconvenience, but I would rather be safe than sorry!

NASA's Europa Clipper will investigate Jupiter’s moon Europa to determine whether there are places below Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa, that could support life. The mission’s detailed investigation of Europa will help scientists better understand the astrobiological potential for habitable worlds beyond our planet. Join the mission and have your name stenciled on a microchip that will be attached to the spacecraft as it travels 1.8 billion miles to explore Europa. Sign up to send your name on NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft by Sunday, Dec. 31. Students, staff and families are invited to visit the LaGrange First Presbyterian Church (200 West Michigan St. LaGrange) on Thursday, December 28th between 4:30pm and 7:30pm to have your name entered. Contact Mim Smith at 463-5093 with any questions.
